Show Scouting week set, boys tour offices Over 30 organizatior in the community suppoi the more than 1,400 yout 1 CEDAR CITY Mayor Robert Linford of Cedar City has designated Feb. 7-13 as Scouting Anniversary Week. To commerate 72 years of scouting, scout leaders from various troops were involved in a Scouting for Government Day Feb. 3. That morning, scout leaders met with Mayor Linford and. various officials of local, state and federal government. The scouts were then each assigned to different departments in the City where they learned the functions of certain departments. Scouts visited the fire department, police department, Bureau of i Land Management and 1 others in the city. One scout stated that he had thoroughly enj yed the day, not to mention that i he had learned a great deal from the experience. The boy scout theme for this year is "Save Our American Resources (SOAR) ... for the Better Life." The theme for the Cedar Breaks Distict is "The Better Life . . . Through Conservation." Also included in the week's activities will be window displays by the Cub Scouts. |
