Show Cedar Water Bond Election Cedar City voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 1 to vote on two water bond issues being proposed by Cedar City Corporation. Two polling places will be manned to accomodate the voting with voters from Districts 1 through 8 to vote at the North Wing of the City Office Building at 43 North 300 West and voters from Districts 9 through 16 will vote in the South Wing of the City Offices at the same address. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., according to City Manager Mike Embley. Two separate bonding issues will be voted on by the voters of Cedar City to determine whether or not the city should sell both Revenue Bonds and General Obligations for a combined amount of $3.2 million, i The ballot will read as follows: Proposition Number One: Shall the City Council of Cedar City be authorized to issue and sell negotiable coupon revenue bonds in an amount not to exceed $2,200,000 for the purpose pur-pose of paying part of the cost of acquiring improvements and ex tensions to the public utility of said city comprising its water system by the acquisition and construction of waterworks, lines, pumps, storage facilities and other facilities, improvements im-provements and property used in connection with the acquisition, storage, transportation and supplying of water for domestic, industrial, irrigation, recreational and other purposes, including the acquisitionof all land necessary therefor, in and for said city, and all costs incident to the authorization and issuance of the revenue bonds, including fiscal advisers', ad-visers', engineering and legal fees, and amounts necessary to establish bond reserve funds, said bonds to be due and payable in not to exceed 25 years from their date or dates and to be paid, as to both principal and interest, in-terest, solely from the revenues to be derived by Cedar City from the operation and ownership of its water system so as to be improved and extended? Proposition Number Two: Shall the City. . . be authorized to issue general obligation bonds ... in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the purpose of paying part of the cost of acquiring improvements and extension to the public utility of said city comprising its water system by the acquisition and construction of waterworks, lines, pumps, storage facilities and other facilities, improvements and property used in connection with the acquisition, storage, transportation and supplying of water for domestic, industrial, irrigation, recreational and other purposes . . .? The Cedar City Council has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the issues of the proposed bonding program to be held this evening, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cedar , City High School auditorium. A general statement from City officials will be made and the meeting will be opened to questions and answers an-swers from those in attendence, according to Embley. Residents are encouraged to become informed on the issue and vote Tuesday on this vital bonding issue. |
