Cedar City and the Cedar City Athletic Association were cooperating on the project, and it was expected that within a week or ten days the courts would be ready for use. 23 years ago Rapid progress was being made on the construction of four new buildings in Cedar City, a church, school, auditorium, library and a business block. It was anticipated that a substantial part of each building would be done before the winter months. The North Elementary w as expected to be ready for use by July 1954. The library and auditorium on the campus of College of Southern Utah (SUSC) was being built for approximately $455,000. The church, a Cedar Stake and Cth Ward Chapel, cost approximately $200,000 with a lot of donated labor. The business block housed the J.C.
