Show Final plans for the 1978 Iron County Fair are nearing completion, according ac-cording to Art Walunas, general chairman. The fair will be staged at Parowan August 31 through September 4 and is expected to be a great "Family Affair." Af-fair." First activity on the agenda will be the Miss Iron County Pageant to be staged at the Cedar City High School Auditorium on' Thursday, Aug. 31. Winner of the Pageant will reign over the Fair and represent Iron County at the Miss Utah Pageant. Rodeo Rodeo events are being slated Friday, Saturday and Monday at the Parowan Race Track. Featured will be an estimated $10,000 in rodeo prize money, a $300 added purse for the barrel racing event and a special feature will be the Roman Trick Riders - Ron and Ginger Brown. Also slated at the Race Track will be two days of races - Saturday and Monday with $350 purses and a special leading jockey award. Chariot races will be held Saturday and Monday sponsored by the Golden Spike Chariot Association with $1000 in prize money During the Iron County Fair exhibits will be on display at the Parowan High School gymnasium with prizes and ribbons being awarded in a host of categories. Exhibits will open at 11 a. m. Saturday and remain open through Labor Day. The City of Fun Carnival will be in Parowan opening Friday evening and continuing through Labor Day. Other special attractions of the fair will be the Pony Express Race, to be staged at the Parowan Race Track Monday at 12:30 p. m. A $1200 added purse will be offered. Parade One of the special features of the annual event will be the Parade to be staged on Labor Day at 10 a. m. on Parowan's Main Street. Special cash awards will be offered, Walunas stated. A Sundayu Night program, free to the public, will be held at the Parowan High School Auditorium. Two shows will be presented at 7 and 8:30 p. m Talent will be provided through the Terry Talent Agency and will feature Ricky Tanner, Mahanna-Jaspering and theDr. Burton Comedy. |
