Show In ouropinion Support bond issue Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to vote on a bonding issue for the improvement and increase in the culinary water system of Cedar City. Question has been raised as to the need of such a program and whether or not the city is moving in the right direction relative to meeting' the needs of the community. com-munity. Despite what we might believe it appears that the inflation rate is not going to stop. Likewise the interest on money is not likely to decrease over the next several years. The admonition that we can wait until the money market is better is not a valid argument against the bonding proposal. What residents should consider is whether or not the culinary water system of Cedar City in fact does need improvement and expansion. ex-pansion. If voters believe that it should then now is the time to act. We are not advocates of increased in-creased taxation and Revenue Bonds are not based on taxation but on revenue generated by the increased water system. Since the the major portion of the bonding proposal is revenue bonding we believe that the issue of increased taxes is not valid. Cedar City, it appears, is going to continue to grow. Historical data indicates that Cedar City will grow. We are sticking our head in the sand and ignoring the problem if we believe that what we have in existing water supply is sufficient to meet the needs of the future. We urge that you consider the bond election and all its ramification. We would hope that you would support the issue. But whether for or against we hope that residents of Cedar City will vote on August 1. It is only in this way that your voice can be heard. |
