Show Power Company Leads Out as Play Resumes I Southern Utah Power Company, first half champions in the Cedar City Tony League, has taken an initial lead in the second half following three games played this week. The Power nine has posted victories vic-tories over Arden Dairy and Utah Parks Company in the quest, now, for second half honors and a possible pos-sible league title. In the third game of the week Utah Parks downed Utah Construction. Con-struction. Monday evening in the opening open-ing game of the second half Neil Gentry of the Power team pitched pitch-ed a a one hit, one run game against Arden Dairy. With outstanding out-standing hitting to back Gentry up the Power boys posted a 19 to 1 victory. They garnered 17 hits in the seven inning game. Robert Browning was the only man to score for Arden. Reaching first on a walk, he advanced, a base at a time, on passed balls to score. Tuesday evening Utah Parks' downed Utah Construction 13 to 4. Jimmy Quinn of the Parks was! credited with the win and he allowed al-lowed only six hits to the strong mine sponsored team. Construction Construc-tion called on Bevan Leigh and Michael Jones to handle its mound chores. Wednesday evening the Power crew skeezed past Utah Parks with a slim 11 to 8 victory. Warding Ward-ing off a fifth inning rally that scored four for the Parks the Power team bounced back in the fifth with five of its own and the final victory. Utah Parks outhit the Power team 8 to 7, but was unable to push across the necessary runs. Eric Gardner and Neil Gentry were on the mound for Power and Charles Cox, Roger Higbee and Douglas Haycock, all took the long trip to the mound for the Parks. |
