Show NOTES FROM YOUH IRON COUNTY HOME DEMONSTRATION AGENT By Emma Neilson The Squaw Dicss Have you seen the squaw dress made from a double six-gore skirt pleated rather than in tiers? The pleats are long and the style more becoming to average figure types. Plastic starches and gelatin starches are nice to use for these skirts. A little secret for home pleating: put in a bound-and-faced placket at side instead of a zipper. Seam placket side with a large basting stitch. Rip this out to pleat when you launder. On a table lay our the wet flat skirt, take two pieces of wood 2" x 4" the length of the skirt, pinch up pleats and finger pleats, then shove up against the board when finished shove the two boards together and put weights back of them. Allow to dry and you will have sharp pleats the size you desire. |
