Show Mining Assessment Drop Affects Property Valuations A decline in mining activity in Iron County during the past year, together with re-valuation of farm lands outside the cities and towns, has resulted in a decrease of $2,862,211 in the assessed valuation val-uation in Iron County, it was revealed re-vealed at the meeting of the Iron County Commissioners Monday. A reduction was made In farm land with primary water right of $15 per acre and a reduction was also made in the value of desert range land, which a little more than offset Increases in other property values in the county valued by the county assessor. Value of property assessed by the county this year was $8,347,-791, $8,347,-791, as compared with $8,358,663 last year. The big reduction in assessed valuation in the rounty was In property assessed by the state, particularly mining assessments. This total for the current year Is $33,673,250 compared to $36,524,-599 $36,524,-599 last last year. The total assessment for the county this year Is $42,021,051, compared to $44,883,262 last year, or $2,852,211 lower. The total assessed valuation for property in Cedar City is practically prac-tically the same as last year, or $5,000,694. Of this $5,197,776 Is assessed by the county assessor and the balanes of $813,019 is public utilities assessed by the state. Parowan's total valuation Is $614,843, $25,788 of which is public pub-lic utilities and $599,055 valued by the assessor. Valuations In other towns of the county are as follows: Paragonah, $105,930, and Kanarraville, $74,903. |
