Show Hot Rod Club Prexy Tells Plans For St. George Meet Wilford Day, president of the "Knights of the Road," car enthusiasts en-thusiasts club in Cedar City, announced an-nounced that the organization has become affiliated with the National Hot Rod Club. In making the announcement he also stated that the Cedar City group is completing plans, at the present time, to participate In an inter-city hot rod contest with St. George early in Septembers. Septem-bers. The two groups have made plans to meet on the St. George C A A airport runway. Plans of the local club are to supervise the dragging of hot rod autos and get them off the streets and to perform inspections inspec-tions prior to participation of any kind. The St. George meet will be similar, he explained, to a meet held last year at the Cedar City airport by members of the Las Vegas Sports Car Club and the Sports Car Club from Salt Lake City. Instrumental in the organization organiza-tion of the clubs in Cedar City as well as St. George, was Newell Hardy of St. Georeg. Hardy will also serve as advisor to the two groups through his association with the national organization. Other officers of the "Knights of the Road" are Les Carpenter as vice president, and R. D. Smith as secretary. Anyone interested in participating partici-pating in the local club has been asked to contact any of these officers. The group, Day explained, explain-ed, has been sanction by the police po-lice department of Cedar City plus highway patrol officers. |
