Show Cedar City Elkdom . Members Attend Convention At the opening session of the 91st Grand Lodge Convention of the Benevolent and Protective Order Or-der of Elks, being held in Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, Pa., this week, John L. Walker of Roanoke, Va. was elected as the grand exalted rul-rr. rul-rr. The 49-year-old lawyer will be installed today, Thursday, at the closing session of the convention. He succeeds William J. Jarnick of Nutley, N. J. Two Cedar City members of Lodge No. 1556 are In attendance at the convention. They are Warren War-ren H. Bulloch, grand exalted district dis-trict director, and Haldow E. Christensen, exalted ruler of the local lodge. At the convention Bulloch will make his report for the year just finished. Christensen will be given giv-en instructions for his reign over the local lodge for the coming year, while in attendance at the various meetings. Elks membership has shown a gain for the 16th consecutive year, Grand Exalted Ruler Jer-nick Jer-nick told conventioneers. An increase in-crease of 26,810 for the year ended end-ed March 31 brought the order's membership to the record high of 1,149,613, he said. Forty-four new lodges were also established to raise the total to 1,720. |
