C Judge Woody handed down a decision this morning1 that will be of interest to a number of. counties in the state. It was the case of. the Sisters of Charity vs. Alfred Cave, treasurer of Missoula county. Treasurer Cave attempted to collect taxes from the hospital, claiming that it was not a charitable institution. He took the matter into the courts, and it was hotlv contested. The plaintiffs -produced evidence that showed that they furnished medical attendance at-tendance and medicine to persons equal to .2,S00 days during the present year, and 3,500 days during last year, free of charge,and what little money was collected col-lected was from those able to pay, and was put into medicines and in equipping equip-ping the hospital. The court rendered a decision in favor of the Sisters. The case will be appealed to, the Supreme Court. -. . , |
