Show THE PRINCE OF PEACE. (Contributed' Intermountain Catholic.) What a beautiful name is this, which the Church by inspiration gave to Our Savior. Jesus is indeed the Prince of Peace. His earthly life was lived in the atmosphere of peace. He was always al-ways ruled by one great, motive; He ever sought to do the will of His Father. Hence His life was marked by perfect peace. Whatever outward tumult tu-mult he might have to pass through on account of the. malignity of Satan and the servants of Satan, within His soul all was quiet and peace.- But chiefly Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace because he gives spiritual peace to those , who believe in His Church. . He is our peace, because, through His bitter passion he has wrought out our redemption. if we trust in His Sacred Heart and rest on His love, we shall, though our outward life be one of trial and tumult, have rest and p.ace in our souls. Even at the aroroich of death the devout Catholic has no fear; to him 4 . death is but a falling asleep in His Sacred Heart. , , - If we would live in a state of perfect peace we must be on the watch against willful sin. We cannot live in the bright sunlight of our faith if we are careless and unwatchful. If -we do not seek to overcome temptation, our souls will be resJless, troubled, anxious, bur- dened and strangers to the peace of God. I m |
