Show HOMAGE PI TO THE HEROES OFTHE MAINE Snow-covered Graves in Arlington Ar-lington Cemetery Recorated With' Floral Tributes. WASHINGTON, Feb. 10. Homage to tho men of the battleship Maine, who lost their lives in the epoch-making catastrophe In Havana harbor sixteen years ago, was paid today by the navy and high officers of tho nation at Arlington Arling-ton national cemetery. Snow-covered graves wcro decorated With floral tributes, trib-utes, and a stanch little vessel ploughed through tho Ice floes of the Potomac to strew sprigs of ovcrgreon on tho water. Over tho graves a detachment of bluejackets blue-jackets fired three volleys and a national na-tional salute, and a bugler sounded "taps." Impressive exer6lse3 were held Indoors at Fort Meyer, the blizzard making It Imposslblo to carry out the programme planned at the cemetery. Hundreds had braved the. freezing blasts, however, to participate in the ceremonies. President Wilson, confined by his physician's phy-sician's orders to the White house, sent b. Beautiful floral tribute. President Menocal of Cuba cabled an expression of the reverence of his government for the dead of tho Maine. Ills message expressed ex-pressed deep regret that he could not participate In the services, and added: "But my mind will bo with you all, for I have to mourn with you, for the brave officers and sailors of the Maine."
