Show Parowan High will host 60-voice chorus on Sunday On Sunday, April 23, Parowan Paro-wan High School will host one of the finest high school chor- al groups in the west. Thei group of 60 young men and; ; women under the direction of; Mr. Steven Gothold will per-;- form at 8 p, m. in the Paro-' , wan High auditorium. There -"- l will be no admission charge - , According to John Talcott, -of the Parowan High music department, Mr. Gothold and several of his students visited this area last summer while attending the choral symposium sympos-ium held at Brian Head, and participated in the concert the group gave in 6ur city. Their fondness for the beautiful scenery and the , friendships made with the Parowan students stu-dents prompted the inclusion of Parowan in their concert tour now, Mr. Gothold said. . , The program will include a ' wide range of music with the entire chorus performing as 'well as several small groups. Under the agreement to ap-I ap-I pear in Parowan the music department de-partment of the local high I school is responsible for housing hous-ing them and the music stud- ;' ents are now busy trying to ;: find accommodations for tha" group while here. Mr. Talcott '; ' says there will also be a dance- Saturday night to help wel-come wel-come the group with music to be furnished by 'The Good -Company." , The chorus comes from the Whittier High School', which is over 70 years old, has a student enrollment of 1800, ' and is the alma mater of President Pres-ident Nixon. The 60-voice 1 choir is comprised of students ' ' of grades 10-12. ) |
