Show Deadline nears for annual Poetry contest There is still time for members mem-bers of the Southern Utah Poetry to submit entries for this year's contest. The closing clos-ing date of the contest is April Ap-ril 2G. . All members are eligible to enter any or all categories of the contest, except the youth category which is limited to those under 25. Membership in the Society is not required in the youth category. Anyone wishing to become a member may do so by mailing $2 dues to Ruth Chains, 532 S.,580 W in Cedar City. Poems may be submitted to contest chairman Joanna Brown, 218 S. 100 W. in Cedar City. Winners will be announced announc-ed at the awards meeting on May 18 at 8 p.m.' in the Public Library. Six categories of competition competi-tion have been established, Mrs. Brown indicated. They include: I Serious verse, unpublish-ed. unpublish-ed. Limit, 50 lines. II . Serious or light verse with a Southern Utah theme or setting, unpulblished. Limit 50 lines. III Light verse (humorus) unpublished. Limit 25 lines. IV . Youth, unpublished. Limit 25 lines. V Vesta P. Crawford award A poem, unpublished, descriptive descrip-tive of a southern Utah Character, Char-acter, someone in the setting of southern Utah background back-ground and person as they mold each other. Limit 50 lines. VI Sons .of Utah Pioneers (Cedar City Chapter) award. |
