Ron Guidry of the New York Yankees ran his ytcoreless inning streak to sjJJO in pitching the New 'York Yankees to a 8-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Guidry, 8-3, r allowed five hits while L striking out seven in seven innings to register his fourth straight victory Sunday. Larry Milbourne hit a freak homer for the Yankees and Graig Nettles added a three-run shot to highlight a four-run four-run first inning. Milbourne lofted a high fly near the left field four line that Royals' outfielder out-fielder Willie Wilson lost in the sun. The ball struck Wilson on the side of the head, bounced off the front of the box seats and rolled behind Wilson into left as Milbourne circled the bases. Nettles' 10th homer of the season came off Royals' started Rich Gale, 5-6. Ron Davis and Rich Gossage threw in relief. The Detroit Tiger manager, Sparky Anderson An-derson called upon Rick Peters, who had collected one hit his previous 24 at bats, to pinch-hit in the ninth inning of a 4-4 tie with the Texas Rangers Sunday at Tiger Stadium and Peters promptly drilled a shot that glanced off the glove of first baseman Bill Stein and rolled into the outfield, allowing Steve Kemp to score the winning run in a 5-4 victory over Texas that extended Detroit's winning streak to nine games. Chicago pounded out 21 hits including a three run homer by Greg Luzinski to back the four hit pitching pit-ching of Steve Trout in crushing Toronto 13-2. Trout at one stretch retired 13 batters in a row before Greg Wells stroked a fifth inning single. Bob Bailor knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning then made a leaping, o'ver-the-shoulder catch at the left field wall to end the game 3 to 2 in favor of the New York Mets. Neil Allen was the winning pitcher at 5-3 and Tom Hume, Cincinnate Reds was the loser at 6-3. Gary Lavell walked Leon Durham with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning forcing Ivan DeJesus with the game winning run in Chicago's 6 to 5 victory over the San Francisco Giants. In other games Sunday, Milwaukee downed Minnesota 8-5; Cleveland downed California 6-3; Baltimore defeated Oakland 7-4; Pittsburgh topped San Diego 5-2; Atlanta nipped Montreal 2-1 and St. Louis thumped Los Angeles 11-7. BASEBALL STANDINGS Detroit is in first place in the American League East as of Aug. 25 at 10-3 and Chicago is in first place in the American League West at 8-5. Oakland is 7-5. St. Louis is in first place in National League East at 7-4 anu Atlanta is in first place in National League West at 9-5.
