Show 5,500 svudenvs vo enver Uanvah disiricv schools Over 5,500 students will attend Uintah District schools as they open their doors for the first day of study next Monday, Aug. 31. Although pre-registration hasn't shown the number of expected students, a low estimate for enrollment in the schools is 5,500, Superintendent Phil Ellis said. Ellis said that all elementary teaching positions have been filled and only several secondary positions need to be filled as one teacher resigned this week. "Although housing for teachers has been a problem," Ellis said, "we've been able to find housing for all our teachers." Students will have to travel to school with a little more jingle in the pockets as the cost of hot lunches have increased in-creased 15 cents for elementary and 25 cents for secondary students because of federal cut backs and increased costs. An all day inservice training program for the 500 employees of the Uintah School District will be Friday at 9 a.m. and will include workshops and lectures.
