Show Chevron USA fertilizer plant Kemmerer, Wyo. wants Kemmerer, Wyoming Mayor Gerald Olsen has asked Chevron USA to consider Kemmerer as a possible site for a proposed multi-million dollar fertilizer plant. Chevron spokesman Owen Murphy in Denver said the plant, which would combine sulfur from Chevron's gas procession plant now under construction con-struction in Uinta County with ' phosphate from a recently acquired mine north of Vernal, is "still in the preliminary planning stages." Murphy says both Rock Springs, Wyo., and Vernal have been considered as sites for the new plant, but said Chevron has filed no formal requests with any government agency for permission to locate the plant. Murphy says a decision on where to locate the plant would be made within the next 90 days. Murphy said he had no exact figures on how large the plant would be, but said it would cost "several hundred million dollars" and that at least 1,000 workers would be needed to construct the plant. Murphy said he had received a letter from Olsen, asking that Kemmerer also be considered as a possible plant site. |
