Th ree traffic accidents cause personal injuries Three traffic accidents occurred in Uintah County recently in which persons per-sons involved received injuries. A spectacular accident occurred last Thursday, Aug. 20, as a Halliburton truck carrying liquid nitrogen veered off the right side of the road while traveling east on U-40 one mile east of Musket Shot Springs. The truck traveled 300 feet on the shoulder of the road, then traveled back onto the road skidding sideways. The truck rolled over twice, landing on its top on the east bound side of the road, said Trooper Gary Cutler, Utah Highway Patrol. The truck, which was totaled, was valued at $500,000. Thomas Frank Gavern, 39, Vernal, driver of the truck suffered a broken collar bone. He was-cited was-cited with driving left of the center line. Last Wednesday night, Aug. 19, Francine L. Christensen, 20, Vernal, received severe injuries to her right foot from a motorcycle accident. According to a report by the Vernal City Police, Francine Christensen was traveling west on 100 South on a 1959 Suzuki motorcycle and struck a 1969 Chevrolet that was turning north into a driveway at 135 West. The car was driven by Susan Lee Lewis, 22, of Vernal. Christensen was transported to the Ashley Valley Medical Center where she underwent treatment to her right foot which was severed. A two-car accident was reported by the Utah Highway Patrol occurred oc-curred 23 miles north of Vernal on U-44. A vehicle driven by Robert William Woody, 28, Roosevelt, was south bound and lost control traveling into the north bound lane. The vehicle struck the left . rear fender and rear bumper of a vehicle driven by Kerry J. Clegg, 26, of Green River, Wyo. forcing the vehicle off the roadway by the impact. Clegg was in fair condition Monday at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. Woody suffered no injuries. |
