Show i ' prontier lengthens stay at Vernal airport , Airlines has now moved (he i n of its service to Vernal to jSiuarwrof vm ins, eadof as previously announced, the hitter part of 1981. In a letter from James L. Kolstad, Frontier director of community and government affairs and assistant to the president, to Stan Anderson, Vernal Municipal Airport Board chairman, Kolstad said, "It would not be in our best interest to file for termination of Vernal in the near future (within the next 30 days). The uncertainty of the environment with respect to the reduced reduc-ed flying brought about by the recent controller walkout, which has manifested itself in lower traffic boardings, boar-dings, the pending change in chairman at the CAB and the uncertain movements of the CAB Sunset406 legislation, suggests to us that a termination ter-mination filing at the present time would be inappropriate. Kolstad said Frontier would stay in close communication on the timing of its departure from Vernal perhaps as late as the third quarter of next year. Kolstad said Frontier was still interested in-terested in working with Skywest as its replacement carrier. In the meantime Frontier hopes it will be possible to come to a mutually satisfactory agreement agree-ment regarding its lease in Vernal. |
