Show Hurricane Holds Fine Program On Armistice Day Program Includes Many Dances, Readings, Songs, Musical Numbers HURRICANE, Utah Armistice Day 1944 was fittingly celebrated in Hurricane Saturday, Nov. 11. The American Legion, Sterling Russell Post No. 100 and the Auxiliary were responsible for the day's program which was in charge of Mrs. Emil J. Graff and Mrs. Claud Hirschi. Marching Legionaires carried the National Stars and Stripes and the Legion colors. The program pro-gram began with one minute of silent devotion to the U. S. Soldier Sold-ier heroes of all wars. The congregation con-gregation sang, " America, The Beautiful"; prayer, Karl McMul-lin; McMul-lin; male trio, "Hats Off! The Flag Goes By", Owen Burgner, Lafe Staheli and A. K. Larson; tap dance in costume, Thayes Thurston; musical reading, "The Star Spangled Banner", Camilla Judd with violin and piano accompaniment ac-companiment by Irene Hinton and Gwynn B. Hirschi. Other numbers were, violin solo, "Play Fiddle Play", Mrs. Hirschi; patriotic gems, Miss Luetta Imlay; ladies' trio, "Flag Without One Stain", Lillian Workman, LaVerna Graff and Veda Lemmon; brief remarks by Post Commanders Claud Hirschi and Homer Engle-stead. Engle-stead. Address of the day was given by Sgt. Wendell Tobler of Santa Clara who has just re-returned re-returned from Italy where he completed 51 bombing missions. Concluding numbers were a vocal solo, "Liberty Bell", by Ivan Barrett; "America" by the congregation, con-gregation, and benediction by Mrs. George W. Gibson. The chapel was appropriately decorated for the occasion. |
