Norm Shultz, Ven Savage and Arnold Goff, and one Forest Dale star, Larry Summerhays, will make up The Salt Lake Tribune-Telegram public links team, which will rep-rMent rep-rMent Knit Ike Citv in the national rjublic links tournev at San Francisco, August 9-14. ' Th four gained places following 72 hole of medal play competition Saturday and Sunday. Th first 18 holes were played at Forest Dale. Th next atop was at Nibley and th ahotmaker wound up activities with 18 holes at Bonneville. Goff and Savage wound up the lengthy test tied for first place, each posting 218 totals. Summerhays, University of Utah champion, wound up In third with a total of 219, and Shults, better known for his exploit in th bowling wars, was on stroke back of Summerhays. Harry Gurley, former Lo An-gele An-gele performer, was named second alternate, first place honors going to Juddy Wilcox. Gurley, who (ailed to qualify for the Lo Angeles team in 1933, wound up his activities Sunday with a score of 221. Wilcox, stat amateur champion and runner-up in the Salt Lake City amateur ama-teur and Ogden Country club invitation invi-tation meet, wa off on his gam in th publie links test, but Cy Har-beke, Har-beke, Utah representative on the U. 8. G. A. publio links committee, rated him first alternate on the baat of his play la meets prior to th test Saturday and Sunday. |
