Show Wade Takes Utah State Rifle Title James A. Wsde, popularly known as Jim, emblazoned his name in capital letters across the rifle range at Fort Douglas Sunday when he marked up a grand aggregate score of Mx600 to walk off with the state rifle championship. On June 13 Jim captured the state pistol crown. The former Idaho adept has proved an outstanding performer in his three-year residence in Utah. Fourteen shooters, by their performances per-formances in the two-day meet, gained places on the Utah team wbich will compete at Camp Perry in the national rifle shoot. They include in-clude Ray Hansen and Oscar Hansen, Han-sen, Goshen: Lou Benard and Wes Erlandson. Payson: W. R. (Bill) Rita, Provo; Glen Hogan. Salt Lake CHjrt-Derve Footer, Paysuni Oeorga-J. Oeorga-J. Miles. Centerville; E. Atwood, Salt Lake City: R. Drabble. Ogden; R. Jones, Payson: L. Hansen, Goshen: Go-shen: P. Davis. Payson, and Roy Thomas, Salt Lake City. Milea made a perfect acora in the final event on the two-day program, the long range shoot He will receive re-ceive the H. A. Weymouth award, inaugurated this yesr. Glen Hsnsen won the navy match; Wade wss first plsce winner win-ner in the coast guard match; R. Hansen was victor in the fadeaway shoot, and P. Jorgenson of Preston, Idaho, annexed honors In the SO0-ysrd SO0-ysrd championship. W. J. Patterson of Salt Lake City was elected president of the Utah Rifle and Pistol association for the coming year. He aucceeds Weymouth. Wey-mouth. Rita waa named vice president, presi-dent, and L. Hansen, Goshen; Sergeant Ser-geant C. E. Weeks and Ross O'Neil were chosen directors. The tourney Saturday and Sunday was conducted conduct-ed by the Thirty-eighth infantry of the United Statea army. |
