Show OUR CANDIDATES zth Charles Evans Hughes rvPlt Charles Warren Farbanks (L vick-tresident ---fcJf ti&Srf LET'S KEEP THE OLD FLAG fiSS RESPECTED 4s jj FOR GOVERNOR,' NKPHI L. MORRIS. The question of a Commissioner to represent this vicinity on the County board is ono that should not be side-tracked. In this office, it does not seem to the NEWS that the matter of party politics should have any influence. This section of the valley needs some one to represent it who is competent, compe-tent, progressive and not afraid to "stand up'' for the needs and rightB of his constituents, regardless of his political faith. The, NEWS has just such a . man in mind and will announce him in next week's issue, but would in the meantime, be glad to receive from residents of this section of the county, Hiiggestions as to other possible candidates for this important office. It is a case whre the oflice should seek the man. 9 A ready-made "editorial," sent out by the Democratic National " th '"" "f Democratic editors. and.t.o run as "original," in a To the People of ' S "t 8 Do You R in its present euiiuuiuu. xt would not, t)6Yvever,requut a g.cau u,uui.i)t of money to put this piece of road in excellent shape. All that it needs is a good job of grading and crowning. There are no grades to overcome and only a small amount of filling and bridging would make a good road of what is now a terror to motorists, especially in rainy weather. An expenditure of not over $600 at the very outside would give us a connecting highway that j would be a delight to autoists and others. Residents of Malone and Reed have expressed their willingness to help In improving this road. Some of the mining companies of that neighborhood have also promised aid. The matter . of raising the funds is an easy one. For the remaining portions of the I proposed route through Beaver County, if the roads cannot be put in good ' shape by the subscriptiou plan, let's bond the county for sufficient money to cover the cost. Beaver county has an assessed valuation of 6,458,686 and , could legally bond for $129,173.72, but she has not one cent of bonded J indebtedness. Such a record ia creditable to a county whose roads and i bridges and public buildings are in good condition, but not otherwise. Even ( though but a few miles of PERMANENT road work should be done each .' year, let's do that much, anyway. Reverting to the section of road north of t Milford, the NEWS will undertake to secure the necessary funds to improve ' : thi3 section, provided no one else desires the job. fiilAmptTifl i $1.35 for 62c 1 ?
