Show Fifth Judicial Convention Republicans Nominate Lund for Judge, E. H. Ryan, Present Incumbent, is Renominated for Office of District Attorney The Fifth Judicial Republican convention, con-vention, held at Beaver, last Saturday, was a warm number. There were five counties represented, Beaver, Iron, Millard, Jnab and Washington, with seventy oue votes to be cast for offices of Judgeship and District Attorney. Pressure was brought to bear upon E. H. Ryan to make the run for tho judgeship, but he persistently declined, preferring to stand for nomination of District Attorney. Alex B. Melville of Millard County and George Lund of Washington County, were nominated for the judgeship. Lund won out on the first ballot. Fer the office of District Attorney, C. T. Woodbury of Beaver County, Wm. C. Higgins of Millard, J. H. McKnight of Juab and Edmond H. Ryan of Iron, were nominated. One of the hottest political contesl-p in the county's history ensued, then-being then-being a deadlock for eleven ballots ; on the twelfth ballot, Edmond H. Ryan of St. George, Washington count)', won out by one vote. |
