Show new mm at FLY1NQ FIELDS Competition Responsible for Splendid Morale and Progress Prog-ress Among U. S. Fliers. WASHINGTON, March C Student aviators at the various flying fields are so keenly jealous of tho records mado by other fields that new rocords for the day's work are being established estab-lished frequently. Officials here believe be-lieve the competition is responsible for the splendid morale among the fliers and the progress being made by them. One of the fields near Fort Worth, Tex., recently reported a total of 75.000 miles or three times around the world1, flown by the students in one day. American students arc not being crowded through the training as fast as students of the other allies, every precaution being taken to qualify the man before lie takes the air alone so that accidents will be kept to, a minimum. mini-mum. A statement showing the large number of men now in training and the distances flown by them probably will be issued soon to show the public pub-lic that recentaccldents occur among only a small percentage of men engaged en-gaged in this occupation. Recruiting for tho aviation corps has been stopped temporarily, because of the large number on the waiting list. |
