Field Marshal Haig's official statement issued tonight to-night reads: "In tho raid last night (Monday) at Warneton, strong resistance was encountered en-countered and at least forty of the enemy were killed. Our troops, nevertheless, never-theless, reached tho second German line and repulsed two counter-attacks with further losses to tho enemy. Our own casualties were light. "During the night tho enemy raided two of our posts, one south of SL Quentin and the other south of Epehy. Four of our men are missing. "Today the enemy's artillery has shown some activity at different points between -Flcsquiercs- -nnd the Scarpe river. Hostile working parties in this area were dispersed by our artillery." |
