Show URGES FARMERS TO REPAIR MAIMS A call is being sent out to all farmers farm-ers to marshal their forces, look to their "field pieces" and make ready in every way for the coming season's food production campaign. The local farm bureau is issuing bulletins in cooperation co-operation with tho agricultural college col-lege calling on all agronomists to make careful plans for the summer's work and handle their business like a general his army. The bulletin follows: fol-lows: " 'Farm machinery Is the artillery of agriculture.' In what condition are the field pieces for 'next year's drive for increased production? "Do you know that increased production pro-duction and shortage of labor this year means' the utilization of every available avail-able labor-saving machlno; that in order to obtain tho highest eQlcIency In crop production It Is essential for all farmers to inspect their raa'chinery early to determine the repairs needed. "With tho need in view, the first week in March lias been designated throughout the nation as "Farmers Implement Inspection and Repair Week." The United States department of agriculture, farm papers and periodicals, per-iodicals, state councils of defense, nnd omer agencies are uack ot this movement. move-ment. "The farmers of Utah are, therefore, urgently requested to observe this weekdn tho following way: "First: To make an early inspection of ail their farm implements and machinery ma-chinery with a view of determining what repairs will be necessary to put them in first class condition. "Second: To Uotermine as far as possible, what now machines will be necessary. "Third: To place an order immediately imme-diately for all repairs. Take special pains to give correct numbers of parts and give the brand of machine used, and prevent the "eleventh hour" tragedies. trag-edies. "In making the list of repairs for the coming season, it is not only urgent that the implements be put in first class condition, but also that breakage and wear bo contemplated for tho season. sea-son. For instance, extra shares for the plow; guards, sections, rivets and flywheel fly-wheel bushings for the mower; piston rings and magnets, breaker points for engines should be ordered. On all machines ma-chines there are parts which give way during the season on account of heavy duty. Failure to recognize this fact will slow down the wheels of production. produc-tion. "The price of machinery has nearly doubled in the last three years. There Is little chance for n decrease this year. Qn the other hand, farm products pro-ducts have more than doubled. And there never has been a time for years when crops from an acre of- ground would buy as much machinery as now. "Farmers, do not put off your orders order now. "Implement dealers, anticipate the needs of tho farmers in your community commun-ity and co-operate with them unselfishly unsel-fishly to meet these needs. 00 |
