Show DEMOCRATS ARE SUCCESSFUL NEW YORK, March 6. Control of tho house of representatives was regained re-gained by the Democrats yesterday when they elec.ted their candidates from four districts in Greater Now York at special elections called to choose successors to four members of that party who had resigned their seats In congress. New York women had their first chance to vote since they won the rights at tho polls last November. It was significant that thoy cast 31,8o8 votes out of a total of 78,192 in the four districts. Thoy voted early, seeming to have mado np their minds what they were going to do before thoy received their ballots they asked few "foolish questions." The successful candidates were: Seventh district, KingB county, John J. Delaney, to Bucceed John J. Fitzgerald. Fitz-gerald. Eighth district. Kings county, William Wil-liam E. Cleary, to succeed Daniel o. Griffin. Twenty-first district, New York county, Jerome F. Donovan, to succeed suc-ceed Murray Hulbort, Twenty-Becond district, Now York, Bronx counties, Anthony J. Griffin to succeed Henry Bruckner. |
