The 1918 slate high school basketball tournament will open hore tomorrow night when the Branch Agricultural college team of Cedar City clashes with the Boxeldor high school five of Brlgham City The ! other contest of tho evening will be i between the B. Y. U. high school of Provo and tho Tooele quintette. The title contests are expected to be tho hardest fought In the history of the game. Branch Agricultural college and the B.- Y. U. high school are regarded re-garded as the most likely contenders for tho title, but Tooele Is conceded a strong chance to romp off with the I honors. I ! Presont indications are that one of I the trio will be eliminated tomorrow i night, when tho B. Y. U. high quint j 1 battles Tooele. The loser will have but an outside chance to win the title then. The Boxelder team is not being backed as strongly this season as in former years owing partially to a crip- pled lineup and the strength of the other teams in tho mee't. The B. A. C. team will have practically prac-tically the entire backing of the Utah , Agricultural college student body, and ! if sldoline support will win games ! Christonsen's bunch should have the tourney cinched. The Cedar City boys know the game thoroughly and will be In the running from the start. B. Y. U. Speedy Band. The B. Y. U. high school has a fast aggregation and will depend on its speed to carry off the honors. In Willis the Provo team boasts of one of the fastest forwards in the state. In Tooele the tourney fans will see probably the most aggressive and hard-fighting quint in the meet. Coach Josh AVest has a scrappy bunch, who have plenty of pepper and are in tho game for all thero is in it. Tho Boxeldor five, coached by Dave Wangsgard, has three stars In Tingey. Cornia and Lillywhite. and, although not the favorites to win out, they will put up some spectacular basketball and may surprise the prophets. Probably tho most (alked-of contest of tho tourney is that between the B. A. C. and the B. Y. U. high fives. Inasmuch Inas-much as tho Aggies will back the southern division school almost to a man, tho contest will resemble a college col-lege battle. There seems to be little prospect of a game between the Aggies and the B. Y. U. teams, so this struggle strug-gle will be its substitute. Jack Christonsen. brought his Cedar City warriors to Logan this afternoon and they went through a short workout work-out on the Aggio floor. The veteran coach reports his regulars in good condition. con-dition. The other three teams will not arrive here until tomorrow. Secretary-Treasurer C.
