By PAULA HUFF CLEARFIELD A "narcotic roundup" by the Davis County Metro Narcotic Strike Force resulted re-sulted in the arrest of 42 county residents on Dec. 17, according to Clearfield Chief of Police Daren Green. "There are a lot of alleged drug pushers and users in Davis County that have now been arrested," Mr. Green said. "But there are still many drug problems in the county." The narcotic strike force is comprised com-prised of an officer from Bountiful, Layton and the Davis County Sheriffs office. It is a small but effective team, Mr. Green said. For the past VA years, the team has made narcotic roundups every six months. Although the drug raids curb trafficking, distribution is still rampant, he noted. "We just don't have enough staff to begin to solve all the drug problems in the county," Mr. Green said. "These annual raids slow down the drug flow for a while by making users paranoid. But in six months we will hit them again." To be more effective, the strike force would have to double its manpower, according to Mr. Green. But the funds aren't available avail-able to do that. Right now, the team is subsidized by contributions of 50 cents for each member of a city's population. Arrested in this roundup were 42 adults and six juveniles. There are 10 outstanding warrants, the chief said.
