Show State swimmkg this weekend at BYU i finished locally in the event was Mate of Woods Cross, fourth at 1:21.62. The Woods Cross girl's 400 freestyle relay team took first, clocking 4:16.64. Team members . included Mate, Bird, Lubeck, Perisco, Harris and Trisa Christen-sen. Christen-sen. Woods Cross boys finished second and Bountiful third in the event. DIVING HONORS went to Jina Sanone of Woods Cross, second, and Lana Lennberg of Woods Cross, third. The Wildcats also took second and third in boys diving, di-ving, with Steve Pace and Dave Lassig doing well. As teams, the wildcat depth led them to another boy's title, edging East by an official score of 3 17-3 14. Highland followed with 183, Bountiful Boun-tiful was fourth at 138, and View-mont View-mont fifth at 119. East girls took home first with 331 points, followed fol-lowed by Woods Cross at 286, Highland at 246, Viewmont at 89 and Bountiful at 78. IN TERMS of state titles Brighton Bright-on boys will be challenged by Mountain View and Skyline, while the Lady Bengals will likely face their toughest challenge from Skyline Sky-line as well. Best local girl entries are Bird in the 200 free, and the Woods Cross girls 400 free relay teams. The Lady Wildcats are also sending four divers to state, with Sanone the best hope for a high finish. AMONG THE top boys going to state, Fadel should be a factor in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, back-stroke, Eiting and Brannan in the 100 free. Almond in the 100 breast, and Pace in diving. The state meet begins tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with preliminaries. Finals both days will begin at 5 p.m. in the Richards Building on the BYU campus. Burningham took home a second place medal with a time of 5:22. 14. Bird of Woods Cross, and teammate team-mate Charlene Harris, finished second and third, with times of 6:12.9 and 6:31.28 respectively. The 100 backstroke saw Fadel of Viewmont take another second, at 1:03:34. No local girls medalled, though Jennie Johnson of Woods Cross did finish fourth at 1:13.83. ALMOND OF Viewmont finished a strong second in the 100 breaststroke, and Derrick Siddo-way Siddo-way of Woods Cross took third. Their respective times were 1:06.99 and 1:09.20. Richelle Bird of Woods Cross won the region girl's title, and qualified 12th for the state meet. 200 INDIVIDUAL Medley: "D" Stephenson of Woods Cross took third, at 2:13.44. Teammate Linda Mate finished third in girls, with a time of 2:39.72. 50 Freestyle: No local boy medaled in this event, but Bounti-fui's Bounti-fui's Eric Eiting finished fifth at 24,24. Among the girls, Sara Wilson Wil-son of Woods Cross took third at 28.17. 100 BUTTERFLY: Viewmont's fine junior Doug Fadel took first place with a time of 57.89, followed by two Woods Cross boys, Stephenson took second at 59.75, and Lance Peterson third at 59.. In the girl's event, sohomore Michelle Lubeck of Woods Cross took third at 1:15.84. The 100 freestyle saw Eric Eiting of Bountiful take second with a time of 52.60, while Woods Cross' Dave Brannan finished third at 52.83. Louisa Perisco of Woods Cross finished second in girls, with Heather Hobday, who attends Davis but swims with Bountiful (the Darts ave no team) finishing third.
