Show ARLENE D. WILSON Local artist exhibit shows in Farmington Arlene D. Wilson showing "Nose to Nose" oil painting which she is exhibiting during February and March in the Farmington City Complex, 130 North Main. THIS PAINTING is of Arlene's daughter, Alyson, when she was just two years old. A stray dog had come into the yard and was very friendly with Alyson, who seemed to enjoy the attention. The artist was born and lived most of her childhood in Springvil-le, Springvil-le, just a few blocks from the Springville Art Gallery. As she grew older she spent most of her summer afternoons in the gallery, studying the exhibits. She took classes during junior high in the basement classrooms. AFTER MARRIAGE to Larry Wilson, she dabbled with oil painting paint-ing while having a family and also worked as a reporter on the city desk of the Deseret News. Completing her BS degree from Weber State College, she taught junior high for a few years, writing and editing the alumni newspaper at Weber State for six years. She was editor of the Reflex in 1973. DURING THE summer of 1984, while riding her bicycle down a West Kaysville Lane, she happened hap-pened to see LeConte Stewart painting along the roadside where he often worked. Stopping to chat, Arlene was thrilled to be invited to get her oil paints and join him, at his request. She painted all summer sum-mer and fall with Mr. Stewart who shared much knowledge for this hobby. Arlene painted with Kent Wallis in Logan. Then with a friend, she spent two months in Italy, France and Great Britain, painting and studying the work of the Masters in many of the famous art galleries of Europe. She will study with Daniel Baxter in Salt Lake City this spring. ARLENE WAS pleased to be invited in-vited by Dave Merrill, art director in Farmington, to exhibit her first art show in the Farmington City Hall. She and her husband Larry Wilson Wil-son lived in Farmington for 14 years before moving to Kaysville three years ago. They bought an old 19th century farmhouse in West Kaysville and are enjoying restoring the beautiful old home. MR. WILSON is supervisor with Davis County School District.
