Show Bountiful doctor honored Dr. Dennis R. Peterson of Bountiful Boun-tiful has completed continuing education edu-cation requirements to retain active ac-tive membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family doctors. The Academy formerly was called the American Academy of General Practice. THE REQUIREMENTS call for members to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited con tinuing medical study every three years. The Academy was the first national medical group to require members to keep up with medical progress through continuing education. edu-cation. Because of their broad training, family physicians have the "know how" to treat approximately approxi-mately 90 percent of all human illnesses. The Academy, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Kansas City, Mo. , was instrumental in the estab lishment of continuing education. Besides maintaining continuing education standards for its members, mem-bers, the Academy strives to increase in-crease the number of family physicians physi-cians available to serve the public in the future. IT'S CONTINUING education program also provides a major basis of eligibility for Academy members seeking recertification in the specialty of family practice. |
