Show S. H. Lions Tour Telephone Bldg. After a regular semi-monthly meeting of the Sugar House Lions Club held Monday ee-ning ee-ning at Weasku Inn the group went to the downtown Mountain Moun-tain States Telephone and Telegraph Tele-graph Co. exchange where they toured the plant. W. J. Twelves, of the telephone company and the Lions Club made arrangements arrange-ments for the tour of inspection. He was assisted by 0. Merlin Vance and Robert D. Shelton Onf the club and telephone com-l.anv, com-l.anv, and W. Donald Oakes and H. Vern Hardy of the telephone company. Conducted Tour Members were conducted through the building starting with the switchboard room on through all the maintenance departments de-partments and ending in the general offices. They were shown instruments that were capable of telling where "breaks" in long-line circuits could be estimated within a tolerance tol-erance of 20-poles, radio equipment, equip-ment, teletype circuits and many other features. Coaxial cable segments were described and it was explained that as many as 5000 conversations in each direction could be going on simultaneously. O Committee members at the business meeting preceding thei tour announced tentative dates and plans for Lions club Hallowe'en Hal-lowe'en party and the annual show. |
