Show ; : i A Bit of Scandinavia " East Mill Creek Lady Lions to Hear Prize-Wihrainq Author The EMC Lady Lions will hold their regular monthly meeting on Friday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., at the Lion Social Center with the chief item of business ' being the opening of the Community Com-munity Chest drive, according to Mrs. Edwin E. Johnson, president. Guest Speaker Guest speaker will be Mr. William Mulder, instsructor of English, University of Utah. His subject entitled "A Bit of Scandinavia" Scan-dinavia" will cover his prize- O Winning eight-week tour of tne Scandinavian countries during July and August of this year. Mr. Mulder went as guest of the Swedish - American Steamship Line after having won second place in the Swedish Pioneer Centennial Essay Contest on the subject of "The Influence of a Swedish Settler on a Region or Community." Mr. Mulder chose as his subject, "Ola Nilsson Lil-jenquist Lil-jenquist and His Cooperative City," it being the biography of Mr. Liljenquist and his influence influ-ence on the town of Hyrum, Utah. (Mr. Liljenquist died in 1906). Mr. Mulder will illustrate illus-trate his talk with 200 colored slides showing the various scenes, views, etc., which he vii-ited. vii-ited. Says Mr. Mulder: "It was the kind of a trip that Cornelia Otis Skinner would describe in 'Our Hearts Were Young and Gay'." Talented Mrs. Gweneth Mulder Mul-der (Mrs. William Mulder) will play piano solos to climax the evening's entertainment. Hostesses: Mrs. B. W. Winsor, chairman; Mrs. E. O. Thompson; Mrs. Mark Mumford; and Mrs. L. B. Tanner. |
