BURNETTS are taking advantage of the two-day holiday for the children and headed for Oklahoma City to see their daughter and her husband, MARIE and LEE HOUSE-LY. HOUSE-LY. They entertained at their summer home in Emigration Canyon recently for their study' group of 40 Central State missionaries, mission-aries, headed by President L. E. ROMNEY. Sunday morning brought the joy of an unusually lovely Sunday School session in a perfect canyon setting. Only DALE REED would choose a pile of Church books to lean on to speak to his 325 friends, who gathered at his farewell program. He will leave for the South African mission after going in the mission home on Oct. 11. During the program Bishop Keith C. Casper spoke on Dale's unusual record of attendance. He has never missed a Sunday School since the Bryan Ward was organized, June, 1938. He has missed only 'two sacrament meetings and 1 those because he was out of town on other assignments. as-signments. He has never missed miss-ed a priesthood meeting since he was ordained a deacon eight years ago. He was also president of his seminary class at South High. Bryan Ward seems to raise seminary president. presi-dent. BOYD BUSATH was named president of his class at Roosevelt seminary; STEPHEN HUFFAKER of his class at Irving Ir-ving Seminary and RALF POLLEI of the East High Seminary. Sem-inary. Ralf is also very active in athletics at East, playing right end on the football team and was acting captain of one game. Thursday of last week, CLAUDINE REED and MAR-JORIE MAR-JORIE BURNETT entertained at a surprise party for three of our missionaries: ELAINE CHIPMAN, DALE REED and MELVIN BOEKWEG. Incidentally Inci-dentally Melvin is going to the North Central States. His farewell fare-well will be held Oct. 30 and he goes in the mission home on Nov. 8. Now about the party. They really surprised them by some sly conniving and some tall tales they started an evening eve-ning long to be remembered by the honored guest and 37 other young people. After a riotous scavanger . hunt they climaxed the event with a chili supper at the Reed home, and presented Elaine with a lovely wool blanket (she has to take all her own bedding) Melly with a combination Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, and Dale with a pocket secretary (if you wonder what that is it's a book for his passport and all the innumerable in-numerable papers that he must have. ERNEST BLAKEMORE of the Sugar House high council was saddened this week by the loss of his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann H. Blakemore who died 1 Sunday. She is survived by her i husband, a son, Ernest, Salt Lake, and EDITH LAYCOK of I San Francisco, a daughter, five j gradchildren and three great-' great-' grandchildren. The Emerson i Ward M. I. Emerson Ward is planning plan-ning on a big crowd this Friday Fri-day night at the big dance in honor of four departing missionaries: mis-sionaries: REX STALLINGS. BOB ANDERSON, LELAND WINWARD and NEIL HARDING. HAR-DING. MR. and MRS. FRED CLR TIS, 1499 South 7th East, have as their guests RAY and KAY KILANOSKI from Kansas City. They are planning a big time as Fred started his two-week vacation Monday and they have all that time to do it in . . . MR. and MRS. HARRY J. WONNA-COTT WONNA-COTT JR.
