Show State Wrestling Brighton Combines Depth And Taler, , By DAVE WIGHAM Clipper Sports OGDEN -- Every wrestling coach has their own philosophy in regards to what it takes to win a state championship. Some feel that the team with the most individual champions w ill win the team trophy w hile others tend to think that depth is the key ingredient. LAST WEEKEND at Weber State the Brighton Bengals introduced a third theory for consideration as they combined both individual indi-vidual champions with some excellent depth to wrestle their way to the state 4A team title. This was the seventh time in a row that the Bengals have won the crown representing wrestling supremacy in the state. When all was said and done the Bengals had amassed 1 55': points to run away from second place Box Elder who had 129. Hillcrest was a close third with 125 while suprising West Jordan Jor-dan was the only other team to top the century mark with 104 points. TEN SCHOOLS were honored on Saturday night with individual champions with the Brighton team the only club to have more than one. the Bengals crowned three. Those who adhere to the most individual champions means the team title would have a good case for their theory. The depth theory would have a harder time winning people over since Hillcrest had the most wrestlers place, meaning in the top six. with eight. Brighton was close with seven grap-plers grap-plers getting state medals which is also the number of wrestlers that Granger had. BESIDES THEIR three state champions the Brighton squad had a couple of second place finishes, one third and a sixth.
