Meet In San Cisgo The Uintah Basin Soil: Conservation Conserva-tion District was weel represented at the annual meeting of the National Na-tional Association of Soil Conservation Conser-vation Districts held at San Diego, Calif, from Jan; 3 r to Feb. 5, 1955. In attendance were Harold Dudley, chairman; Forrest Hancock, secretary; sec-retary; and Ray S; Brown and Marvin Smith; board: members. The group left Jam 30 by automobile auto-mobile and traveled to San Diego by way of the' Imperial Valley, where they observed several irrigation irriga-tion projects. Among the- highlights of the meeting was a day spent at Camp Pendleton where several demonstrations demon-strations of" small watershed development de-velopment and protection were observed ob-served and' where the U. S. Marines Mar-ines gavfr an interesting demonstration demon-stration of war tactics and equipment equip-ment The local committee was instrumental in-strumental in securing the adoption adop-tion of a resolution favoring the overall development of the Upper Colorado River Basin. Nolan J. Fuqu from Oklahoma, was- elected president of the National Na-tional Association to succeed Waters Wat-ers J. Davis, Jr.' from Texas. Lawrence Law-rence E. Thorderson of Cleveland, Utah, was elected vice-president of the Southwest Area, which includes in-cludes Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. Mr. Thorderson is president of the Utah State Association As-sociation of Soil Conservation Districts. Dis-tricts. The supervisors returned to Utah on February 7 by way of the San Joaquin Valley, where they stopped to observe several pumping pump-ing irrigation projects. They report re-port a very fine and educational trip. Several of the board members are planning to attend the annual meeting of the Utah State Association Asso-ciation of Soil - Conservation Districts Dis-tricts to be held in Salt Lake City on Feb. 18 and 19. |
