Total loss is estimated at around $4,500 $2500 on the house and an additional $2000 on destroyed furniture. The house was insured for $700. oOo The RHS Rough Riders pulled i back into undisputed possession of first place in the conference standings Friday night, with a hair-raising victory in the game of the year against Uintah, Wednesday. It was Hugh Murray's field goal, late in the fourth quarter, giving Roosevelt a four-point lead, which proved the margin of victory vic-tory in the Uintah game. oOo Marion Harrison, of Neola, was elected to replace Gordon Harm-ston, Harm-ston, and Dr. F. G. Eskelson, of Vernal, to replace Ralph Siddo-way, Siddo-way, at a re-organization meeting of the Union High board, Feb. 8, 1 in Roosevelt. oOo Miss Mary Lee Mortensen, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Mortensen of Myton, became the bride of Grant Stevens, a son of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Stevens pf ElPaso, Texas, in a charming ceremony cere-mony performed at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the home of the bride's parents. President Holiis G. Hul-linger Hul-linger officiated at the simple rites. oOo 10 YEARS AGO - Arvin Bellon, son of Mr. and Mrs. X. Bellon, left Roosevelt to report in Salt Lake City in the Coast Guard. He is a graduate of the Roosevelt High School and before induction was employed at the Walton Tire shop in Roose-j velt. oOo Richard D. Olsen, son of John Olsen of Neola, was inducted in the U. S. Army in Salt Lake City Feb. 9th. His wife, Mrs. Rose Olsen, Ol-sen, accompanied him to Salt Lake, returning to Roosevelt Sunday, Sun-day, where she and their daughter, daugh-ter, Rosanne, will reside. Mr. Olsen Ol-sen has been employed at the mine in Park City for some time. oOo Principals Avard A. Rigby and Leland Wilde, local Parent-Teacher Association vice - presidents, have selected Washington's birthday birth-day for a special "Father's Night" association meeting. All parents and teachers are encouraged to be present, but the program is arranged by men, to appeal spe- crfically to- the interest of the male population of P-TA. oOo A few friends met at the home of Mrs. Pearl Swain last Wednesday, Wednes-day, Feb. 7, to honor her mother, Mrs.' Clara Campbell, on her 80th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Swain was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Amber Page. oOo Seventeen boys signified their intention of joining the Boy Scout troop now being organized at Ft. Duchesne, at a meeting held at the school house, Feb. 6th. oOo 20 YEARS AGO Bruno Richard Hauptman was condemned to the electric chair tonight by the jury that tried him for the kidnapping and murdering murder-ing of Baby Lindberg. oOo The annual election of the Roosevelt Commercial Club was held Wednesday, Feb. 13. Secretary Secre-tary Wm. H. Ruppel, Jr. gave a very splendid report of the activities acti-vities of the club during 1934. President George H. Harrison gave a brief resume of the accomplishments ac-complishments of the club and some timely advice for the betterment better-ment of the organization. The election of officers followed follow-ed resulting in: George H. Harrison, Har-rison, re-lected president; Clair L. Ashton, re-elected vice-president; Ezra Burton, Joseph Moysh, J. E. Wiscombe and Fred Ferron, reelected re-elected to the board. M. E. Lund-berg Lund-berg was the only new member elected to the board, replacing R. S. Jordan, cashier of the Roosevelt Roose-velt State Bank. Mr. Jordan was nominated but declined to run. |
