The narrators, taking their part from a published report of the journey by the choir director, Elder El-der J. Spenser Cornwall, related how the chior surmounted obstacles ob-stacles on the trip over, made a thunderous hit in the first concert in Glasgow, Scotland, then went on to score a resounding success, spiritually and musically in London, Lon-don, Copenhagen, Switzerland, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris and other cities. A highlight of the narrative was the portion related by Larry Wilson Wil-son of Roosevelt, at that time a missionary in Berlin. Elder Wilson told of the difficulties and perplexities per-plexities surrounding the booking of the chior for its trip to Berlin, which is deep inside the Russian-controlled Russian-controlled zone of Germany. He told of how they arranged a moving mov-ing welcome at the railroad station sta-tion and how difficulties weTe overcome to allow even refugees to hear an otherwise sold-out con-icert. con-icert. The latter was accomplished by arranging for the refueees to attend a rehearsal. "We wept and the choir members, mem-bers, many of whom had relatives throughout Europe, accomplished much for the gospel in both singing sing-ing and individual contacts with families and listeners. The mutual singers interspersed the narrative with songs and the listeners joined on two, including what was decribed as the most-called-for of choir members in Europe, "Come, Come Ye Saints." The musical program was proceeded pro-ceeded by presentation of Master MMen and Golden Gleaner awards to those who did outstanding work for the stake mutual program in the last months. Dr. and Mrs. Dan Dennis, stake M Men and Gleaner leaders presented pre-sented the awerds to Bishop Clark Roberts of Myton and Marilyn Mar-ilyn Wills of Roosevelt Second Ward. |
