Show RURAL j DELI VERY By Arvin L. Bellon Roosevelt Postmaster Patrons at the post office frequently fre-quently ask us the best way to send money through the mails. It seems that with the many commercial com-mercial and merchandise transactions trans-actions conducted through the mails, many patrons find it necessary neces-sary to make payments in that manner. In order that losses of money might be kept to a minimum, the following suggestions are given: 1. Do not send currency in ordinary mail- Send small coins only when absolutely necessary. They should be securely affixed to a piece of cardboard by means of pressure sensitive tape. 2. Use either check or post office of-fice money order to make remittances. remit-tances. The money order will provide pro-vide you with a receipt, and if the order is lost or destroyed, a duplicate can be issued without cost by presentation of the receipt. 3. If you must send currency always have the envelope containing contain-ing it sent by Registered mail. New Ball Point Pens Have you noticed that we now have our new ball point pens in the post office lobby for your use. They are certainly a big improvement improve-ment over the old type scratch pens and we invite you to use them. We feel that there will be no problem of having people take them since they are engraved "Property of U. S Post Office," and no one would risk the heavy penalty involved for taking property proper-ty of .the U. S. Government. Write those long delayed letters during National Letter Writing Week which will be observed during the week October 7 to 13. |
