The engineer's office, under Joseph Tracy, State Engineer, called a hearing last Thursday, Sept. 20, in the Court Room in Duchesne. E. Lawrence, Utah Power and Water Board, and Robert B. Porter, assistant attorney attor-ney general, were present at the hearing. It was pointed out at the hearing hear-ing that Salt Lake City had shown no definite intent to utilize this water the past thirty years and it was the intention of the water group that this water could be put to beneficial use here within the Basin.. Mr. Christensen pointed out that Salt Lake City did need the water and they planned to take it through the Duchesne Tunnel and through Deer Creek, but the attorney for the local group ably informed Mr. Christensen that both of these projects were government projects and in ' no way connected with Salt Lake City as a project. It was the feeling that all evidence evi-dence pointed to the release of these filings, as it was shown through discussion with the Power Pow-er and Water Board members that they felt that this water was not being put to ultimate use.. No decision was rendered in the case, (Continued on Back Page) DUCHESNE WATER USERS (Continued irom page one) as Mr. Tracy, State Engineer, will have to study the situation, perhaps per-haps for several months before a definite decision is reached.
