Show Cougars Drop Lehi 13-6 Last Week; Point For Uintah With an impressive win over the Lehi Pioneers last Friday night, the Cougars this week have been pointing to the really big game of the season when the Utes of Uintah Uin-tah come to town for a 12:30 league contest, which could make or break the rapidly improving Cougars. Coach Ted Heath, last Friday, took his crew of green kids to Lehi for a non-league game that was played under the stars before a large crowd. By playing consistent consis-tent football all the way, the Cougars Cou-gars came through with a very impressive 13-6 win over the Pioneers. Pio-neers. Union received the opening kickoff which was downed on their own 30 yard line, from where the Cougars began a steady march down field, using straight football, for the first score. Roy Moulton crashed over from the Pioneer 18 for the touchdown and Jackie Bailey Bail-ey added the extra point. The touchdown march was good for 70 yards. During the second quarter Lehi came back with a sustained drive good for 60 yards, to make their only score. They used mostly ground plays in their drive toward to-ward the goal line. Took To The Air Union took to the air lanes in the third period to add their second sec-ond TD. After Lehi had been held for downs, Clayton Huber, Cougar quarterback, heaved a 30 yard pass to Larry Ross, end, and with some timely blocking by Jackie Bailey, the fleet-footed student body president rambled the remaining re-maining 25 yards for the score. The try for extra point failed. Coach Heath used his entire squad in the Lehi game, and most every kid gave a good account of himself. "Our boys are coming along fine. They snowed me some fine blocking and tackling at Lehi, and if they keep coming, we'll be mighty hard to stop in our remaining re-maining games," the coach said yesterday. |
