Show Union Will Most Uintah in Friday Football Feature Improved Cats Must Win To Protect Title Friday at 12:30 p.m. the 1955 athletic wars between Uintah and Union will tigain begin. It is the hour when Coach Ted Heath 'and his rapidly improving gang of inexperienced in-experienced Cougars play hosts to the red clad Utes from Vernal on Union's field, in their first meeting of the season. The Utes have a 14-6 victory over- Moab, the team that gave the Cougars their first and only set-back of the season, 12-6. Uintah Uin-tah also has a new coach, Leo Conk, who comes from Millard High School, where he was assistant assist-ant to Taft Watts, the great high school coach from Fillmore, who has developed the single wing almost t a perfection. The Utes are geared for this one Friday, and nothing would please their (Continued on Back Page) FOOTBALL FEATURE . . . (Continued from Page One) followers better than beating Union. Un-ion. Ready and Waiting The Cougars are ready and waiting wait-ing for the invasion of the Red-men, Red-men, and if two ailing regulars, Larry Jensen, guard, who has been out all week with the flu, and Lloyd Duncan, half-back, who injured in-jured an ankle, are in shape, Union Un-ion will be at top strength. Coach Heath announced his starting lineup would be the same that had taken the field against Moab and Lehi. The only changes would be if Jensen and Duncan were still ailing. In that case Ronald Ron-ald Anderson would replace Larry, and Moulton will be at halfback in place of Duncan. Must Win This One As the situation looks, at this moment, Uintah is on top of the Region Five heap with one win and no losses; Moab has a .500 standing having beaten Union and losing to Uintah. The Cougars are on the bottom with a single loss and no wins. A win for Union would throw the loop into a three-way three-way tie, while on the other hand if the Utes trim the Cougars, they will have a firm grip on top honors hon-ors and would be hard to displace. Thus, if Union is to repeat as Region Reg-ion champs, they'll have to win this one. The remaining portion of the league schedule finds each team meeting the other once more. On Oct. 7, a week from Friday, Moab comes to Roosevelt, and on Oct. 21, the Cougars travel to Uintah. |
