Show Honors Won By 4-H Clubs At Fair Our 4-H Clubs, were well represented repre-sented at the County Fair this year. Sherrie Gilbert's skirt and blouse won a trip to the State Fair. The Evans Twins walked away with some of the high honors. hon-ors. Laird got grand champion in the fat hog contest and Baird grand champion on his steer. Carol Car-ol and Clifton Larsen, got red ribbons on their sheep; Douglas Holgate, white ribbon on his dairy heifer; Gail Larsen, blue and red ribbons on his horses; red and white on his pigs; Lynn Ross, blue and red on his pigs; Fred Evans, white on his, calf in the fat class and blue on his calf in the feeder division. Evan Lusty won first place in the kids' pony division of the horse show. Ronnie Calvin, who has been staying at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jensen, this summer, returned to his home in Salt Lake City to enter school. Marsha Lusty and Eleanor Cap-son Cap-son returned home after a week's visit in Salt Lake. Brent Ross has been visiting at the home of his grandmother, Merle Ross, while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Floyd Ross, were taking tak-ing care of business in Parker, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Richens have gone to Salt Lake for a week or two. Arlo is helping his brothers on a pipe line. Mrs. Cynthia Larsen, who has been visiting friends and relatives in Salt Lake for several, weeks, returned home Saturday with her granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Chorn. They took advantage of the long weekend and had a fishing trip up Rock Creek while here, returning to Salt Lake Monday. Carolyn Gilbert, after a month's visit with friends and relatives, returned to her home in Othello, Wash. She left Saturday with her grandmother, Rose Gilbert, of Myton. NEAR ACCIDENT In spite of all the gaiety going on at the Charlie Jensen home, a near tragedy occurred, when one of their young guests, Richard Clough, of Salt Lake, backed a tractor over the side of an eight-foot eight-foot deep pit silo, that was partially par-tially filled with water. A terracer on the tractor was badly damaged, but protected the youth from serious ser-ious injury. Mrs. Irvin Johnson had the misfortune mis-fortune of losing part of a finger in a mowing machine accident. Mrs. Hale Holgate left Saturday in company with Mrs. Rose Gilbert of Myton, for Salt Lake. There they will join Bryant Gilbert on an extended trip through the Northwestern States. Mr. and Mrs. Marv Bell and daughters went to Spanish Fork to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Markham. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gordan and Mrs. ZeLba Gilowher, of Tooele, and Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Gordan, Gor-dan, of Eida, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Mar-vin Shields, Sunday afternoon. The group visited the Wanless Shields home in Bridgeland, the Marion Ross home in Pleasant Valley, the Floyd Mecham and Norman Lab-rum Lab-rum home in Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Shields and guests were Sunday Sun-day dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shields of Roosevelt. |
