Show lariiyn Anderson Crowned Queen Of Duchesne Co. Miss Marilyn Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Anderson of Roosevelt, was crowned "Miss Duchesne County" at the contest held at Duchesne last Thursday night as the opening event of the county fair. Named as attendants were Miss Pleasy Lewis daubhter of Mr. and and Mrs. Elvin Lewis of Tabiona; and Miss Beverly Anderson, daughter dau-ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson, Myton. The queen and her attendants reigned over the two-day fair and led the Saturday parade. For her talent routine Miss Anderson played a piano solo, and her two attendants both sang vocal solos. The three winners were selected from a group of eight entries. The contestants appeared first in formal dress to display a talent number, and later in bathing suits. General chairmen for the contest was Mrs. Paul Wilkins, assisted by Mrs. Douglas McKinlay and Mrs. Norman Murphy. "Miss Duchesne County" is now elegible to enter the "Mis.s Utah State Fair" contest, scheduled for Saturday. September 24, at the State Fair Grounds. Queen Breaks Foot By an unhappy quirk of fate, Queen Marilyn suffered a broken foot Saturday when she stepped from the float she was to ride in during the parade. Although in considerable pain, Marilyn remained remain-ed in the parade, and continued her royal, duties during the rest of the day, which included picking the winning ticket from a container during the rodeo. Unless unforseen developments occur, Queen Marilyn will be able to participate in the Miss Utah contest on Sept. 24th. |
