Show Ethel Beebe Wins First In Essay Contest Mrs. Lola Jones made presentations presenta-tions of awards for the Americanism Ameri-canism essay contest on Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon at the Altamont High School. Winners were: first place, Garth Remington; 2nd place, Nona Mitchell, and 3rd place, Cleo Clark. Word has been received that Garth won 1st place in the district contest. LEGION GROUPS MEET The American Legion and Aux- j iliary met in a joint meeting Saturday Sat-urday evening, April 2. Those attending at-tending were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Max All-red, All-red, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fieldsted, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunsmore, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Clark, Clyde Lambert, Mrs. Helen Palm and Mrs. Mary Carroll. Those attending general conference confer-ence in Salt Lake City were Mr. and Mrs. Ty Kolb, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield, Bishop and Mrs. Arthur Timothy, Claud Murray and Mrs. Ilez Ames. ' Mr. and Mrs. Dave Clark, of Portsmouth, Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. Dee Clark and daughter, Agnes, of Meeker, Colo., and Mrs. D. F. Gygi, of Salt Lake City, were visiting vis-iting for a few' days with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Clark. and Mrs. H. C. Morris. Visiting over the weekend with relatives and friends were Mr. and Mrs. Grant McDonald and family from Sunnyside. Many attended the Sophomore Slide at Altamont Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fowler visited over the weekend with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Young, of New Mexico were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dump. |
