Show School Board Reveiws Disirici Building Plans All Projects Are Possible In Fifteen Months The regular meeting of the Duchesne Du-chesne Board of Education , .was held on April 7, at 10 a.m. in the Duchesne School Board office. Those present were Theron Leav-itt, Leav-itt, president, B. A. Jacoby, vice-president; vice-president; William R. Harris, Marion Mar-ion A. Harrison, E. L. Murphy, Rowan C. Stutz. superintendent, and C. C. Mickelson, clerk. A large portion of the meeting was spent on discussions of the school building program. Preliminary Prelim-inary drawings and specifications for the Roosevelt Junior High High School were examined and a schedule of planning the Neola. Roosevelt, Tabiona and Duchesne High School building projects were discussed with Howell .Cannon, architect. Mr. Cannon said that the plans for all four of these projects could be completed in the next 15 months. This means that within a year and a half, contractors can begin on the last of these four buildings. The board authorized the expenditure ex-penditure of $500 to secure possession pos-session of the roadways presently running through the Duchesne High School grounds. In a discussion with representatives represen-tatives of the local Teachers' Association, As-sociation, some revision were made in the teachers' contract pertaining to sick leave policy and upper limits of the salary schedule. sched-ule. A delegation from Tabiona met with the Board of Education to register some complaints concerning concern-ing their school. Dr. Miles Allen, Rex Curry and Manilla Madsen, representatives of the Duchesne P-TA Council, discussed dis-cussed with the board the local school mill levies, and pledged the support of the local P-TA groups in bringing Duchesne County mill levies in line with the levies in other school districts. Supt. Stutz presented to the board a list of the present teaching teach-ing staff who have proper certification, certi-fication, with recommendations for their re-employment for the 1955-56 1955-56 school year. The lengthy agenda agen-da required a setting of a special meeting to complete pressing school business. The board will meet at the Myton School on Friday, Fri-day, April 15, at 8 p.m. |
