This award was made possible by Mr. Marion Bowman through the Bowman Machinery Company of1 Roosevelt. Mr. Bowman has shown his interest in helping the farm youths , and is especially interested in helping to get top quality livestock in this area. This is the second purebred .livestock chain started by Mr. Bowman through the Future Farmers of America Chapter at Union High School. The . other is a registered Poland China swine chain now on the farms of Creig Ross of Tridell and Tom Milburn of Ioka., Gilbert was chosen to receive this award because of his record of progress in the Future Farmer organization at Union High. He is the new FFA president and was the school winer in the FFA Public Pub-lic Speaking contest. Gilber has a sheep project of his own and last spring exhibited a prime fat lamb at the livestock, show at Altamont. 'Mr. Bowman was especially pleased to be able to award a ewe of this quality. This sheep was selected from the flock of Mark Mattley of Coalville, Utah by Mr. Sharon Cummings, Voca-tionalrf Voca-tionalrf Agriculture Instructor at Union High School. Members of this flock have been high in live-, stock show winnings all vover the state for several years. The addition addi-tion of such animals to flocks in the Basin should be a step toward better quality animals in our own livestock shows. |
